Why is a check valve used in the fuel system?
A check valve is used to retain fuel in the fuel lines so that the car is easier to start.

Why replace with an aftermarket check valve?
When tuning the car, the original check valve cannot flow enough. Therefore, it is replaced with a check valve that flows more and can handle the new power level. Also, when switching to two or more fuel pumps and wanting to start them in stages, check valves are needed to prevent fuel from leaking back.

Why doesn’t the system hold pressure?
When switching to an aftermarket check valve or fuel pressure regulator, the pressure drops faster than with the original parts.

Should the check valve be installed before or after the fuel pressure regulator?
Normally, the check valve is installed before the fuel pressure regulator. Some fuel pumps even have a built-in check valve.
