This top-mounted version of the short shift requires the shifter cables to be routed in the cabin. This solution is common if other gearboxes are to be used, such as the 02A gearbox in the VW Golf I for example. Or if a racing gearbox is to be used, where there is no interior.

02J
This short shift also fits cars with the old version 02A and 02J gearboxes. These older gearboxes stand out as the two cable ends in the car have different diameters.
Note that this gear lever is mounted on the prop shaft tunnel. Gear cables then end up in the cabin.
